    HUSD Highlights

  • On Monday, April 7 2014 the Governing Board approved the contract with Holman Capital Corporation (HCC) for the financing of HUSD's Energy Efficiency project. As a result, the district will now be able to begin implementing its $13 million project with Climatec aimed at upgrading and replacing aging HVAC systems, replacing and retrofitting existing lighting, installing new energy management sytems, etc. all designed and guaranteed to create energy efficiency and reduce the district's energy costs. Funding for the $13 million project will come from a combination of Prop 39 monies (approximately $5 million) and savings the district will recognize as a result of reduced energy usage and costs. When completed, the project, as guaranteed by Climatec, will generate enough saving to the district's existing energy costs to not only pay for the financing of the project, but save the district an additional $2 million in the first five (5) years. HUSD is excited to be implementing these upgrades as we continue to be a leader in energy conservation and helping our schools become "green" schools.

  • Ranchero's Robotics team took 2nd place at State Championships in Santa Clara, California. This win secures them a spot in the Middle School division of VEX Robotics World Championship in April held in Anaheim and the International Championship in July held in Hawaii.

  • Cottonwood Elementary has introduced the 100-mile Club, which is a global fitness and running program designed to keep kids active. Coyote runners receive recognition and rewards for reaching the 25- 50- and 75- mile milestones, and are presented with a medal when they reach 100. Two students have already reached the 100 mile marker and more are approaching that pinnacle! The 100-Mile Club is great for students because not only does it keep them physically fit, it teaches them to set short-range and long-range goals, battle through difficult challenges, encourage teammates to be successful, and it builds the self-confidence to help them in all aspects of their lives.
