Web Changes

This is where we'll announce the most recent additions to our web site. If you've visited us before and want to know what's changed, take a look here first.

------------------

On Thursday, October 30, we are having our first "Trick or Treat at Lime Street."  That night, students and their families can trick-or-treat with the Lime Street staff.  It will take place from 6-7 p.m.  We are asking that students donate either a bag of candy or $1, to help provide extra candy.  Masks, scary/violent costumes, and weapons are not allowed.  For more details, call 244-0512.

On Friday, October 31, we are having our "Say Boo To Drugs" parade.  That morning, at 9:30, students will have the opportunity to show all of the other students their Halloween costumes.  Masks, scary/violent costumes, and weapons are not allowed.  For more details, call 244-0512.

Lime Street loves our volunteers!  Please remember that, in order to volunteer, you must fill-out a volunteer application at the beginning of each school year.  The approval process takes time as the district conducts checks on volunteer applications.  The HUSD Board must approve all volunteers prior to them assisting in the school.

There are a few new programs that we will be implementing this year.  The first is the Word Wrangler program.  We will conduct this the same way as last year, but, this time, we are extending the time it runs.

Another new program is a "Perfect Attendance" incentive plan.  We are keeping track of those classes that have perfect attendance every day.  Each class has a chart that says, "We Are All Here!"  Every day that the class has perfect attendance, a letter is filled-in.  Once the whole phrase, with the exclamation point, is filled-in, the class is publicly congratulated.  They also win a "fruit pop" with the principal.  Then, they can start all over again.

Would you like your child to be tutored by Lime Street teachers?  Would you like to not have to worry about homework when you get home?  Does your child want a snack after school?  If yes, then enroll your child in our after-school program. It is called the BEAR Club (also known as ASES).  It takes place from 3:30-6:30 every school day, except for Wednesdays, when it goes from 2:30-6:30.  For more info, come to Lime Street Elementary School and pick-up an enrollment packet.  Normal ASES fees apply-$15/week per child.  Enroll right away, space is limited!

Just like last year, there are only three (3) parties that can be allowed at school.  They are winter break, Valentine's Day, and the end-of-the-year.  To allow for the most instructional time as possible, it will not be possible to have birthday parties during the school day.  Instead, you may take your child out to lunch, bring your child a special lunch, etc.

P.T.A. meetings are scheduled for the third Wednesdays of each month, @ 3:00 p.m. in the library.  The next P.T.A. meeting is Wednesday, November 19, 2008.  P.T.A. important dates:  October 30th- "Trick or Treat at Lime Street"

The next School Site Council (SSC) meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 12, 2008.  It will take place at 3:00 in the library.

The next ELAC meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, December 3, 2008.  It will take place at 3:00 in the library.
