Maple offers a variety of academic activities.

Clue-Me-In: Clue-Me-In competition is held each May in Sultan Hall at Sultana High School. Clue-Me-In supports our district-wide emphasis on literacy for all students. Elementary Schools send teams of 4-6 Grade students to this annual event to compete in this “Jeopardy” type of literature competition. School T-Shirts or Colors are worn to show school spirit. Each grade level division is assigned a master of ceremonies who reads cards and scores correct responses. A scorekeeper is assigned to each game who reports total scores to the audience. Trophies and ribbons are awarded through an awards presentation at the conclusion of the evening’s event.

Schools who have earned a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place proudly display their Clue-Me-In trophy at their school during the upcoming year.

Festival of the Arts: Festival of the Arts is an annual event supporting Fine Arts instruction for all HUSD students, K-12. Festival of the Arts is held on a Saturday in April at Ranchero Middle School. Students are encouraged to submit a wide variety of visual arts exhibits for display at this event. Additionally, students from each school provide vocal and instrumental performances during the festival. Elementary, Middle, and High School Band and Choral students also perform.

This annual event is open to the community and serves to showcase the outstanding artistic talent of our district students.

Science Fair: The Science and Engineering Fair is an annual competition of science projects designed, developed, and displayed by elementary and secondary students.

Participants share their creative abilities, knowledge, and interests with other students. Experienced judges with background knowledge in specific areas of science critique the projects for qualities including scientific method, clarity of presentation, originality and thoughtfulness.

Students in grades K-2 may participate at the school level. Students in grades 3-12 may also compete at the district, county and state levels.

Young Authors: Students becoming book authors, it's true and happening at Maple. Our young authors have the opportunity to prepare, write and illustrate their individual and creative book. Young Authors' books include all types of writing: poetry, fiction, short stories, non-fiction, biographies, essays and personal narratives. You can see and read a copy of books written exclusively by each student at the Festival of the Arts and Young Authors' Conference.
