Mesquite Trails Elementary is a Kindergarten through 6^th Grade school with approximately 780 students. We first opened our doors in 1997, and are proud to say that our campus is even more beautiful today than it was then. Facilities include a covered cafeteria and auditorium, a multi-purpose room, a computer lab with computers for each student, and a library with over 27,000 books. We also have a spacious playground with three basketball courts, two play structures, four tetherball courts, a kickball/softball field, soccer fields, and a 1/5 mile track with built-in fitness centers.

 

At Mesquite Trails it is our job to ensure each child achieves success. In 2008 we were recognized as a California Distinguished School, making us one of the top 350 schools in the state in student achievement! We implement a comprehensive K-6 curriculum that meets State Standards and rigorously prepares students for California State Testing in grades two through six. Every 6 weeks we conduct Benchmark testing to assess student progress toward learning goals. Teachers are then able to provide reteach opportunities for those students that continue to have difficulty. Our ExCEL model helps to meet the needs of all learners in reading and language arts, and provides instruction at each student’s specific level. 

 

Our three B’s—Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe—are the foundation upon which our success is built. Students are expected to demonstrate respect, responsibility, and safety in everything they do, and receive Student of the Day Nominations when they are observed doing so. Each day, one or more students is chosen from the past week’s nominees and wins Student of the Day! These students are announced each morning and receive special recognition from the principal.
