The Hesperia Junior High ASB class of 2003-2004 school years goal was to make school a fun and active place to be. We wanted our fellow students to enjoy and look forward to activities that are held at school. To do so, the student body put together many fun activities, such as: Renaissance Rallies, dances, Spirit Days, and Friday Activities every week.
Renaissance is a system that HJH has to reward our students for having a 3.0 or higher GPA. If a student has a 3.0 3.49, the fall into the bronze category. If theyve reached a GPA of 3.5 3.99. theyre in the silver level. Our 4.0 are in the gold renaissance. To motivate our students to be in the Renaissance system, we hold an assembly every quarter. The period-long rally is filled with fun activities, music, and prizes to let our students know how proud we are of them and appreciate their hard work. But the fun doesnt stop there. For the first quarter, all renaissance students received an ice cream party on December 13 at lunch. The silver and gold levels get a pizza party on December 14 and the lucky gold will get to ride a limo for lunch the following day.
Dances are held almost every other month during the school year and are usually from 2-4 p.m. Tickets are on sale the week prior to the dance for $3.00. Renaissance gets a benefit once again. Bronze students get a dollar discount. Silver renaissance receive a $2 coupon and Gold gets in free.
Every Friday during lunches, ASB conducts a noontime activity. Any student who wants to participate in one of ASBs wacky games is welcome to join in the fun! Music is playing and everyones cheering. This will hopefully brighten and make every students Friday a blast!
Another fun and interesting activity done at Hesperia Junior is Spirit Day. As often as possible, our schools had a day where students can show their school spirit by dressing up and being crazy. For example, Nerd Day and Crazy Hair Day were the first ones of the year. These worked well and were looking forward to more.
ASB students helped many less fortunate children during the holiday by putting together a shoebox filled with toys, school supplies, and anything else useful to the children. The shoeboxes were shipped to young boys and girls around the world. ASB wanted to brighten the days of a child who doesnt have as much and let them know we care.
Mr. Heywood, our ASB advisor, has led us to help make HJH a fun and safe environment for the students.
